On Wednesday, the 27 of January, the Toastmasters Course at El Shaddai Christian School began. All who signed up the previous week attended the first meeting and the promise of a Toastmasters course at the school became a highlight of the week.

May Club: Mayor-Noise!

My second meeting as a member of E&Y TM was held in the 4th floor Boardroom, being the first time in many years that this venue was used since only Lloyd Dicks knows when.... It was a cosy venue and the smokers enjoyed the balcony views during the breaks. Glenn Simpson called us to order and Lloyd Dicks introduced the theme "Mayor-Noise" by way of a detailed mayonnaise recipe (2 eggs, salt and mustard powder, oil and vinegar, sugar, cayenne pepper, etc, etc). He then produced a wooden spoon and waved it around aggressively whilst assuring us that "at this club we make you feel safe by laughing with you!".

June Club: Are you Game?

It was a cold winter's night in down-town Cape Town and only the fittest and bravest of the Toastmaster Elites had ventured out for another exhilerating evening on the E+Y Toastmaster playing field.

 

Sergeant at Arms Glenn Simpson called the players to order and our Toastmaster of the Evening, Michelle Beaumont inspired us with the famous olympic motto: "Citius, Altius, Fortius" (faster, higher, stronger). See http://www.mapsofworld.com/olympic-trivia/olympic-motto.html for more details.
