Our new EY Toastmasters members are:
We were honoured to have had three amazing speakers.
Our first speaker was Janet Schuiling. Her speech was entitled, “Snow White”. This was Janet’s very first Toastmasters speech at our club and she did an absolutely wonderful job. She spoke about how she grew up in Kimberley and how she was a performer and actor who took her roles very seriously. She told us about her decision to switch from performer to academic. She told about how she became a Geo-Physicist.
Our second speaker was SheriffMohamed and his speech was entitled, “May Day.” Sherif did an amazing job with his speech and we were blown away by his passion. He told us about what it is like to be part of the Navy. He told us about how gruelling the training sessions are. He then spoke about how we can use our negative past experiences in a positive way today. He told us not to regret our passed but to view it as a teacher that we can learn from.
Our third speaker was Bongani Ndhlovu and his speech was entitled, “Focus – Discipline and Endurance”. He did an outstanding job with his speech. He spoke about how he got into running ultra marathons and running races such as the Two Oceans and Comrades marathons. He spoke about how we should have smart goals that are clear and specific. He also spoke about discipline and why it is so important. An amazing line from his speech was, “Our ability to endure mentally and conquer physical pain will grant us success”.
We had our lovely Toastmasters member Daniel lead the Table Topics session part of our meeting. He did a splendid job and came up with some great topics.
– You have just won the lottery, what do you do?
– Beyond the titles that others have given you, who are you?
