A Sublime Evening

“Breathtaking, splendid, wondrous, sublime, all those words describe you, exactly as you are. You are a work of art! Enjoy your beauty!” -Amy Leigh Mercee

We had an absolutely awe inspiring meeting on the 18th of July. 😊

It was beautiful to see 4 Toastmaster clubs come together in one room.

The theme of the evening was “Practice what you preach” and this wonderful theme was demonstrated throughout the entire meeting. As well as having the theme of the evening being complemented by the word of the day which was “Sublime.”

Here is the powerful definition of sublime: of such excellence, grandeur, or beauty as to inspire great admiration or awe.

We had the wonderful Liezl Du Plessis as the Toastmaster of the evening.

We had the lovely Yanga as Sergeant at Arms (SAA), Alan Wolff as the Grammarian who chose the powerful word of the day- “Sublime”, and Emily Nhachi as the Timekeeper.

We had three exceptional speakers:

1. Marwaan Fredericks
2. Rutendo Nyamuda
3.  Nwabisa Maseti

First Speaker: Marwaan Fredericks

Marwaan Fredericks gave a powerful speech titled “Landscape with the fall of Icarus.”

Second Speaker: Rutendo Nyamuda

Rutendo Nyamuda who gave a speech titled “Running into the uncomfortable” which truly prompted us to take those steps out of our comfort zone and put our minds into action to make those things happen in our lives that we’ve always wanted to do.

Third Speaker: Nwabisa Maseti

Nwabisa of the Breakfast club gave an amazing and thought provoking speech on social customs titled “Is culture a culprit?”

We had awards given to:
We had a beautiful tie for “Best Speaker” 🎤 between Marwaan and Rutendo.

For “Best Evaluator”, we had another beautiful tie between Muwanwa and Nicholas Jackson of ToastEd club.

Herc Hlengwa aka CEO of Koo Beans from Taverners Toastmasters Club who took home the prize for “Best Table Topics.”

We also had a lovely Member Appreciation Ceremony where we said thank you to all of our members and gave them a certificate to acknowledge that we appreciate them and pledge to continue to help with their journey.

We also had the lovely members of the ToastED club reclaim their flag which was hijacked by our members at their last meeting. The requirement was that 5 members had to attend to reclaim their flag which was very fun. 😁

We hope to see you at the next one where we will once again elevate your goals, dreams, ambitions, and self growth to new levels!

Our next meeting will be on the 6th of August at 18:15 pm. Stay tuned for more details!
