What you missed this week!
Oh what a night! Thank you for the amazing turnout last night! For those who couldn’t make it, you missed out! Here is a recap of what you missed.
Jon Jon San Juan was the Toastmaster of the Evening and kept us entertained with his theme: Coffee Spring day. From the history of instant coffee to bathing in coffee and even noodles! Yikes!
Maageda Sheik broke the ice with Sheep in the Big City (CC1). Sivuyule Mpekelana gave us the load down on the Impact of social networking on society (CC3). Hilmarié Stephenson took us on a journey with her to Newlands: One Nation (CC4). We were then shown the differnt meanings of body language across the world with Avien Pillay‘s Mind Your Body Language (CC5). Barry Ger ended the speeches off with his creative story; Nine out of Ten (AC 5).
Lisa Huang hosted a fun round of Table Topics; keeping with the coffee theme. Thank you to those who “semi- volunteered”. This is really a great opportunity for members and guests to step out of their comfort zone and to speak off the cuff.
Our evaluators for the evening were: Caerie Dunnell, Neil Liebenberg, Edward Moses, Lindy Loxton and Kathryn Hounsell. Thank you for providing speakers with valuable insights and constructive feedback.
Thank you to all facilitators! Lene le Roux as Grammarian, Neil Bernberg as Time Keeper and Kathryn Hounsell for being the ballot counter and Sergeant at Arms of the evening.
We are looking forward to seeing you all at our next meeting, RSVP for Thursday 23 October meeting here.
At our next meeting, Lene le Roux will be doing a short demo for ALL MEMBERS on how to effectively make use of this great tool.
